Christmas Part 2. My House

Hohoho...Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.

Yes! The highlight of this christmas! Me, my dear dear & my primary school cum childhood friends had decided to come together on the eve of christmas and have a potluck cum gift exchange party night.

Althought we had planned in advance and even had a discussion at TCC Cafe 3 weeks prior, however, still got communication break down. I am really sorry for any inconveniences caused to everyone being affected.

Me & my dear dear bought a christmas log cake and we also prepared a special cocktail dish.
The cocktail dish was contributed greatly by my dear dear. It is a cold dish with chicken franks, pineapples, turkey breast ham & cherry being served with a 'cocktail' toothpick....here it goes...

And then, of course, I have to take a picture with our 'guest-of-honour'

Then, the spread of the christmas party..

For the rest of the food, Ms Koh & Mr Goh came with potota chips & drinks.

Ms Chan & Mr Tan came with sandwiches & hotdog & crunchy cucumber (with seeds)

Ms Teo came with fried mee hoon & potato/green apple/honey dew salad (still cannot determine whether it is called a fruit salad or potato salad, why don't call it Ms Teo's salad)

Ms Phui came with a ham roll wrap & super-duber hot curry chicken (just as hot as she is)

Not to forget, Ms Phui also generously contirbute a bottle of red wine which cause quite a drama later......

Ya, have you guess what had happened from the above picture???

The cork was struck in the bottle!

And our dear Mr Tan is trying all his best to get the cork out.

After......#$%^&**@#%^&*^>?#

Finally, can take group picture liao lor......

Christmas Part 1. Office

Hohoho...Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.

Seems like I have many christmas celebrations for this year, from the topic you can see lah, this entry is only 1 out of 3 in total.

First time celebrated christmas in my new job. In order to play safe, I bought christmas presents for every colleague in my department. In return, I got a set of toiletries & a bottle's of guy's perfume (sweat...dont ask me why i got a bottle of guy's perfume, ok? You should go and ask that person who gave that to me!!??? I have just as many question marks above my head as you do)

At the office's gift exchange party, i got a Starbuck's X'mas Mug. And at the office's christmas lucky draw, i got myself a jar of mustard sauce. (dont sweat, ok...not everyone can win something one ok, some gonna a 'merry christmas & happy new year' note only)

And the worst thing is I gonna do duty on 25 Dec 05!!! Thats mean go back office on 25th's morning and check whether there is anything urgent or etc...
Not to bad an idea, gonna hit and do something big may win a praise from my GM thereafter....BUT...NO!....Went back, check emails....nothing urgent...a lot of Merry Christmas greetings emails only....what the f**k, waste time only.
Next year, a big thing to do is to scrap this public holiday duty rubbish.

This is a not such a happy entry thorough, afterall, who can spend a happy christmas in office?? Read on, hope the next one is better then....

Digital Printing

Argghhh....had been so so so busy for the past two weeks. Heavy work load, christmas shopping, gift wrapping, drawing up x'mas cards, planning for feasts and etc....but with no mahjong session (so sad....)

Hahaha....sorry the few lines about had nothing to do with my title 'digital printing', just my complaints.

Ok, so here it goes..... I was at a photo printing shop yesterday collecting my photos. Those photos were taken on my bf's digital camera during my cousin's
K2 graduation concert cum ceromony. So, we managed to got it copied onto a CD and send it for printing at the photo shop.
I had printed a total of 52 4R & 1 8R photos....but can you imagine that the shop assistant refused to give me a single photo album. And the worst thing is that her attitude is very discrimatinating against digital prints. When I asked her about any photo album provided, her reply was " Digital print ones dont have anything one lah unless your is film printing!" I was pissed off and rebuked her, " Then, can I buy one from you? Or else how am I going to keep these photos?" Then she pointed to the shelves and said, "Over there lah, see yourself"

So, what now? It is crime to print digital photos instead of film ones? No wonder, nowadays, the photo printers are getting cheaper and easy to operate. I think I shall get one soon to avoid all these nonsenses from that kind of photo printing shop. Also, a reminder to all photo printing shops, I do understand that the trend of film camera is going down, thus sales have dropped greatly from sales of film & other etc.... However, it is time that you take another approach to your business, otherwise, it will meet it ends very soon.

Anyhow, I bought a photo album from that shop and when I was going to leave, there is another couple who stepped in to collect their 'film print photos'. The shop assistant's attitude had a 100% change to a nice, sweet and courtesy worker. She offered them some freebies that comes together with the film printing, think I saw the photo album, a small bag and etc.... Also, it comes with a free one piece of 8R print!

Duhz....why it is so unfair??? The price is the same for digital & film printing!

My HR

What is HR? It is Human Resource in short. The Human Resource Manager can be a person you either like best or hate most in the working society.

Below is a list of HR which I had met in my jobs.

Year 2001-2002
1st HR Manager - A young lady with a pleasant look and always greet you with a sweet smile on her face. No unhappiness when working with her during the 1 year, after which she resigned and went off to get married. Recently, bump into her at a shopping mall, she is pregnant with the second child, first daughter already 4 yrs old liao....

Year 2002-2004
2nd HR Manager - This one is a powerful young lady. I had a great time working with her as both of us just shot one another in our work. She would just scream at me for taking too much MC and I would just shout back at her for delaying my petty cash claims & off-lieu leaves. But we are good kakis after work, great kaki for dinner, movie, stock-up shopping...hahaha...drama , right?

Year 2005
3rd HR Manager - A nice lady, mother of a boy aged 2 yrs old. And she is pregnant with her second daughter when I was working with her. In a company of more than 100 staffs, she can single handly deal with everyone problems. She is patient and never failed to listen & give sound advise to the staffs. A round of applaus for this great lady. And I am in good terms with her, when comes to company's special events or activities, I can always ask from her for easy job & prefer timings.

Year 2005
4th HR Manager - Still may be a bit too early for me to comment on her, after all, I only in my this new job for 3 weeks only. But my experiences is really very bad.
Before commencing on my new job, she had given me sar-la information about my working hours. Upon the start of working, I notice the differences and asked her about it, she just took out my employment letter and state the terms is not specify in such a way...duhz....To me, it is just a small difference, you can just tell me that you had explained it wrongly, no need to use your letter and throw at people, right???
Anyhow, later learned from my fellow colleagues that she is new to the company and yet wanna act smart type.
When you go ask her something, she will talk in an act ang moh kinda tone. BUT her voice changed into sweet-sounding when she see food!!!
Today, one of our business associate give us a big *christmas fruit cake. With 6 young ladies in the department, of course, we are unable to finish it. So, we cut it up and share it with the team of drivers. So, while one of the driver is eating the cake, this HR manager walked past and upon seeing the cake, she turned into an act-cute tone to ask where the cake from? (hinting she wants a piece too).
So, this driver replied and said, this cake was specially bought by the shared money of 2 departments. Hahahaha....she was embarassed and walked away. After she left, the whole group of us laughed our head off......

(*What is christmas fruit cake? Basically, it is a fruit cake decorated with santas claus and snowman....duhz, right? Too bad, it really is like that one)

Sick.....

I am currently the third week into my new job, and still trying to move in slowly, still got lots to learn and catch up with. Not that I am new to this industry, but still, every company has their own ways of handing matters, not a matter of right or wrong. As the sayings goes, while you are in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Just yesterday, my first day on the later shift work, still not used to the weird working timing. In the midst of working, I felt my gastric giving problems, and later progressed into sharp painful headache, then giddiness, then.....totally weak on my whole body.
I really dont know what to do, i cant even walk properly, how can I make myself home??? I gave a call to my dear dear (btw, who is dear dear? dear dear is my bf aka the guy next to me in the photo lah). He came over to my work place and send me home in a taxi. My situation got worsen when I alighted from the taxi upon reaching home, I can't even walk properly because of the bad headache & giddiness. My dear dear carried me on his back and walked me to my house.
He stay with me for a while to make sure I am ok after taking the medicines.

I dont know what will others think when read the above happenings, prehaps you may think that it is the duties of a bf? But to me, at that very moment, I just knew that this is the guy that I am going to stick with for the rest of my life. Maybe this thinking has always been in my mind since the day I am with him, but somehow just yesterday, it then had a heavy hit on my head.

(Old beng, regarding your
latest post on how to win a woman's heart, I think my dear dear had won my heart with a sincere attitude in not only caring but also taking care of me.)

My Ex-colleague

Further to my below entry on my ex-colleague's resignation. Actually, I really really wanna wash my hand out of it as it is REALLY none of my business. Cos I am not close to this ex-colleague of mine. Anyhow, if you had read the comments in the below entry by '-lian', you may have some further update on the development of the situation.

Let me continue/refresh the development here once again.

So after much evaluation of her work by her boss, she has been told to work one more day, till the end of the week before letting her go off for her 'annual leave'. As there are still some outstanding work which the boss believed that it is reasonable for her to clear within a day. (unable to disclose what is the work about, but i agreed that it can be done within a day one lah)

Guess what now???
The following week, her boss found the outstanding paper work being piled under the CPU (the CPU is placed under the table), thats mean on the floor lah, CPU on the top of the pile of paper.
Hahahaha....what an idea to do such a thing. If it is me, I may as well dump it into the dustbin or bring home to burn them.

So, the boss called her up and ask her to give an answer for placing the paper work under the CPU, or come back and settle them, even while 'on leave'. Instead of answering the boss's queries, she questioned her boss about her last month salary. Duhz.....
Of course, the boss is very angry over such attitude at work and the boss must be thinking that 'you better come back and give me a good answer before you talk to me about your salary!'

Then how now??? Dont ask me, ok....how I know how???

MOE's law is that an employer required to pay up his/her employees within 7 days after the end period of the salary. (sorry, should be MOM...alamak, make me confused also)
So, let the case drag till then lor....then I should buy popcorn & coke light, sit back and see show lor, see who sue who now.....hahahaha......

MOE or MOM???

I am writing this entry due to a request from a friend (you know who you are, ok). Recently, I am very pissed off with my life due to some unreasonable & uncontrollable happenings. Dont want to talk about it, in fact, I dont even want to think about it. Anyway, below is a account of what happened to one of my ex-colleague recently.

She has been working as a clerk with this company for the past 3 years. Recently, she decided to resign and at the same time, she found another job to move on. As you may or may not know, all private corporate company practise a one-month notice period for resignation. And usually, there is a hidden regulation that you clear all your outstanding annual leaves on your last month of work.

Example:
You submit letter of resignation on the 01 Oct.
One-month notice means your last day of work is 31 Oct.
You have 7 days of annual leaves not yet taken.
Thus, 31 Oct minus 7 working days, equals 22 Oct.
Meaning, your last day of work is 22 oct.

Thus, my this ex-colleague did the same. However, due to her last month at work, her production level & morale went extremely low. At the same time, pissing off other colleagues in the company. Thus, her boss told her that if you are unable to complete all necessary work by 22 Oct, the company reserves the right to disapprove your leave and you have to work till 31 Oct. The 7 days of annual leaves will be encashed instead. (sounds peaceful & reasonable????)

NO! NO! NO!
This ex-colleague blew up a big fuss about it. Told everyone that she knows that the company is not letting her off for a better career path. And she even sms me to ask whether she can sue the company with MOE!!! (waahaahaaa...i think she meant MOM lah, must be too hot-headed when keying the sms to me)

OMG!!! can someone tell me whats the world is coming to??? i really dont know who is right and who is wrong in this case. My ex-colleague or the boss of the company??? (Personally, I am on very good terms with the boss too. She is definitely not a mean person that wanna spolit someone's future)

By the way, in such cases, can employee sue the employer under Labour law in Singapore???
Anyone that can enlighten me???

(P.S : the only thing that does not piss me off this week, is actually Harry Potter, Gorblet of Fire Movie, it is indeed an enjoyable movie, although the cinema is filled with one million kids running around....)
